The Arts of EMAC:
The following are specialized arts taught at our school, along with general courses and private instruction in Self Defense. They are listed here with a brief describtion of each art:
Kalsadapo
Street Law ( Law of the Street )
A modern martial art developed for practical street self defense, Kalsadapo Karate is designed not as a sport but to teach the practicioner a practical blend of combative techinques and responses to violent encouters. The training methods are both effective and prgressive to meet the nature of our changing society.
Jun Fan Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do
Jun Fan Gung Fu
Also known as Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu ( Bruce Lee's Personal System)
This was Si Jo Bruce Lee's personal system and is the "Foundation art" of what was to be later grown into JKD. Many people now days call Jun Fan Gung Fu "original JKD"
There is a myth that most people belive they know JKD by knowing Jun Fan , which is false. Bruce Lee had this as a Base system with a modified form of Wing Chun mixed with principles of boxing and fencing. He used this method to have a standardized method to easily teach students. It is important to remember the Jun Fan method was a work in progress and under constant change.
Jeet Kune Do
Intercepting Fist Way ( Way of the Intercepting Fist )
This is Si Jo Bruce Lee's personal expression of combative martial arts. JKD is neither a style nor a system, but a process of developing ones own path to martial arts mastery. This is the art that Bruce Lee introduced to the world. He refused to hold on to tradtional ways and developed a Truely progressive art that has proved to be effective on the streets and in combat to this day. JKD is not a product but a process. It cannot be taught as a standardized way. It is the method of taking away the unessentials and adapting it in a way to make it fit your own attribites. JKD will utilize its different ranges of combat to move quickly form one to another effortlessly in an easy flowing movement to launch the most direct line of attack. At the time Bruce Lee introduced JKD to the world, with the help of Dan Inosanto, JKD utilized methods and principles from 26 different styles and systems. After Si Jo Lee's death, Guro Dan Inosanto continued with his teachers studies and furthered the art, continuing to allow it to grow. Dan Inosanto progressed even further in adding concepts from more arts and eventually his students studied what was known as Jeet Kune Do Concepts. Dan Inosanto was also the man who also taught, trained and certified Brandon Lee in his fathers arts. Jeet Kune Do Concepts is one of my favorite arts that I continue to train and instruct in to this day.
The Filipino Martial Arts
The Art of the Phillipines
There are many styles and systems most tested over time in combat and jungle warfare. The methods taught here are a Blend of over 25 styles and systems that Guro Dan Inosanto has mastered and taught to my instructor. The art is one of the most complete arts I have seen and the training drills help to develop great timing , speed, sensitivity and awareness. Many people think this is just a weapons art, because of the frequent use of the stick and dagger work , but there are many areas including very effective empty hand and ground fighting.
